Jim Minty is the instructor at the August 17th dance.  To get more info you would click on “August 17″ on the calendar or on the news story.   He will teach:

2:45:  West Coast &a1 – Connection Challenge. Will take some basic patterns and principles and twist them up in weird ways to give you options to play with. Ideally will come away from this with a better understanding of the principles so that you can free up your creativity.

4:00: West Coast &a2 – Phrasing, It is not just about being able to execute patterns its about building partnership between you , your partner and the Music.

 The next Progressive Class will begin on August 11, 2008. This is the famous fourteen week WC Swing Class. This class covers all 22 foundation patterns of WC swing and tons of dance technique. The dance technique you learn in this class applies in all other partner social dance. This class is held on Monday nights in Kirkland. The price for this amazing class series is $125.00. Click on PROGRESSIVE for more information and registration. You must be a member of the SSDC to take this class.

Weekend WC Swing Training with Gary Jobst and Csilla Madocsai on September 3 – 5, 2008. This will be nine intermediate and advanced West Coast Swing workshops over the weekend including one specifically for competitors. For information and registration information click on WEEKEND.

The Seattle Swing Dance Club (SSDC) dances are held on the first and third Sunday of each month. The usual location is the Alki Masonic Hall located in West Seattle. The address is 4736 40th Ave SW; Seattle, WA 98116.The club activities usually begin with two intermediate WC Swing workshops one at 2:45 PM and the second at 4:00. These workshops are taught by various instructors from the puget sound area. The fee for these workshops is usually $19.00 for both workshops for members of the SSDC and affialliated clubs; $25.00 for guests. We also offer a beginning WC Swing class at 4:00, this class is free for people who have paid for their admission to the social dance.The club also holds regular dance competitions. Both members and non-members are welcome to compete. The competitions are in the standard Jack & Jill format. Competitors can earn local points as a Novice, Intermediate, or Advanced dancer.
